Sr. Business Developer/Staff Engineer

 SUMMARY:

The candidate will work in partnership with assigned representatives and internal engineering management to pursue and capture new business that is aligned with strategic objectives.  The candidate will act as the initial technical contact between the customer and company with the goal to develop opportunities that match company’s business objectives for the assigned product group, pursue opportunities, present solutions, and capture new business consistent with the Plan.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

 With sales representatives identify new business opportunities that are in alignment with company business and technical objectives, and that meet forecast plans for the assigned product group.

 Develop initial technical solutions to meet or exceed the requirements of the customer.  Leverage core technology strengths to penetrate sales cycle early, work with customer engineering groups to provide solutions that create advantage for company, differentiate solutions from the competition, and develop effective mechanical packaging to support the best value offer to the customer.  Must be able to quickly comprehend customer specifications or concepts and create functional block diagrams and component specification and analysis.

 Work with the assigned product group Engineering Manager to fulfill the technical selling process.  Act as the capture manager (per Company Proposal Process) for all business pursued (less that pursued by Program Management, if not otherwise assigned).

 Assist in proposal development, preparation, and proofing, in partnership with the engineering manager.

 Grow professional relationships within the customer that can lead to new business.

 Promote company’s technology both at customer site and major trade shows that lead to increased opportunity development.  Provide motivation and sense of urgency across sales rep channels to pursue new customer accounts and introduce company’s technology within core and adjacent markets.

 Maintain forecasting tools and prepare management reports as required.

Reports to VP, Sales and Marketing and provides direct guidance to our field sales representatives and inside sales administration. (no direct subordinate staff)

 QUALIFICATIONS:

 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree (M.S.E.E.) and 5 years related experience and/or training in RF/microwave subsystem/systems design, or 15 years of technical experience in RF/microwave subsystem/system design. Demonstration of specific technical related experience and aptitude are required for this job, with emphasis on frequency generation and synthesis, including crystal oscillator and mixer technology.  Excellent computer skills are required for this job including use of company provided software-based office tools, email, engineering design and analysis programs, ERP systems, and program scheduling software.  

 The employee can expect to travel up to 25% of the time, including travel on weekends as required.
