Senior Optical Engineer

 

Position Summary/Relocation Benefits: Relocation available 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Contribute as a senior optical engineer in production support,
troubleshooting, tool design, and test development.

Provide senior level support for modeling and analyzing electro-optical systems, sub-assemblies, and
components for the visible and infrared spectrum. Provide the same for design of optical test equipment
including alignment and calibration.

Interface with customers on requirements, specifications, and design reviews. Work within a matrix
organization to support multiple programs in a fast-paced environment. Contribute to proposals with
designs, cost estimates, and technical write-ups. Mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications:

7 years experience and a B.S. in Optical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent
degree. M.S. degree is a plus. Experience in modeling, designing, testing, troubleshooting, and
manufacturing optical or electro-optical systems. Experience with optical tools such as Code V or
Zemax. Proficient with computer programs for word processing, spreadsheets, mathematical
calculations, project management, and presentations.

Must be able to obtain a DOD security clearance

Additional Desirable Skills and Knowledge: Analytical problem solving and high-level math skills. Good
verbal and written communication skills. Good organizational skills including the ability to prioritize
workloads to meet.

Product Engineering Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Director of Engineering manages, guides, audits and coordinates the work of a highly skilled engineering and
product development teams, placing particular emphasis on developing new engineering solutions and products
consistent with the appropriate timelines and budgets. The Director of Engineering supports the company in
reaching its profit and growth goals and positively interacts with all other departments to resolve problems where
engineering or engineering department solutions are required. As part of the senior staff, the Director of

• Leads the development and implementation of overall engineering plans and
  objectives for assigned responsibility areas (mechanical, electrical, I&C

  determination of project scope or definition; conducting of economic, technical or

  cost estimates; development and maintenance of engineering standards;
  application of engineering techniques, data analyses and interpretation.
• Coaches, mentors, and advises team members on best practices, technical
  problems, priorities and methods.
• Monitors projects/activities to assure overall conformance to engineering,
  company and operational plans and objectives as well as related contractual
  engineering requirements.

Qualifications:
• B.S. Degree in Engineering, PE preferred
• Comprehensive knowledge of advanced techniques, technical requirements and/or
  standards for designing and engineering large-scale membrane-based water and
  waste water treatment facilities; significant experience in water and/or wastewater industry preferred.
• 10+ years progressively more responsible industry experience in an appropriate
  engineering area.
• Extensive blueprinting knowledge and client interactions.
• Must be have complete responsibility and delegating of work load and responsibilities to engineer team
  leaders and Subordinates of 40+ employees.

Systems Engineering Dept. Manager  

Duties and Responsibilities:

Direct supervision of the Systems Engineering Department. Department supports multiple development and production programs. Responsible for staff and resource development. Determines manpower needs and work schedules; works to meet completion dates and technical specifications. Key Systems representative for new product developments and business unit pursuits. Prepares proposals and program cost estimates and technical solutions and evaluates progress. Provides technical interface to potential customers. Analyzes program requirements and decides upon the type of and extent of professional engineering and support activities needed to accomplish objectives within the established time frames. Review all Systems Engineering tools, establish domain experts and monitor usage. Establish well planned Product Development Plans, which include requirements flow down, risk management, manpower and skill set requirements for Navigation Systems applications. Develop plan for detailed review and clean-up of Systems Engineering processes as required. Establish a Systems Engineering Training Program and execution plan.

Qualifications:
Mastery of standard and advanced theoretical bases, principles, concepts, techniques and processes. Familiarity with system analysis modeling tools (Matlab/Simulink). Detailed knowledge of system engineering principles, expert knowledge of organizational level system processes. Experienced in systems design and development in several application domains. Expert knowledge of at least one formal analysis, design, and test methodologies along with associated tools. Familiarity with
Kalman filter design and use. Experienced in team leadership & program or project management.

MS Engineering or applied science plus 10 years experience. PhD preferred.
